This song is a sanctuary. Night comes down, and holds us in its cloak, and we sleep. Day becomes night, again and again. The surest thing we know.
Someone told me recently that the only thing NO single animal on earth has been able to figure out how to do, is avoid sleep. We simply need it. There are some weird fish who can sleep with one half of their brain at a time (sometimes I feel like I'm doing that), but no animal can avoid sleep completely.
And, I love sunsets, and owls, and hummingbirds. And I love long extended zeppelin-esque guitar-driven swirly spaces. So here you go.
lyrics
there goes the sun, slidin' down the sky
there goes the sun, settin'
here comes the moon, climbin' way up high
here comes the moon, risin'
sing me a song
a little night song
sing me a song
for the evening
sing me a song
a little itty bitty night song
sing me a little night music
there goes the light, slippin' away
there goes the light, fadin'
here comes the dark, fallin' like rain
here comes the dark, blanketing
there goes the hummingbird, tucking in her joy
there goes the hummingbird, quieting
here comes the owl, with secrets in her eyes
here comes the owl, she's flying
